Acolyte & Communion Minister Team

What is an acolyte?

An acolyte is a youth or an adult who helps out with the needs of the church’s worship. So, they may light the candles on the Holy Table, assist with the Gospel reading, receive the gifts of bread, wine, and money at the offertory, and make sure all candles are extinguished at the dismissal. Being an acolyte is a wonderful way for our young people to take part in our worship!

What is a communion minister?

A communion minister assists with the distribution of Holy Communion, both in corporate worship and to shut-ins who cannot be present with the gathered church.

Throughout the year, we offer trainings for both acolytes and communion ministers. Intrigued? Check out training for acolytes, as well as our guidelines for communion ministers.
