Our Altar Guild cares for all that goes into our celebration of Holy Communion, the Church Year, and Holy Baptism. They provide the great care and dedication needed to worshiping a Holy God! They oversee the elements used in Communion and care for the fabrics and colors used through out the year. It is a great honor to serve on the Altar Guild.

LECTOR TEAM4522863092_6aed3dafd3_o

The public reading of Scripture in the liturgies of the Church is among the most important features of any act of worship. No one should be admitted to this high privilege who has not thoroughly prepared the passage to be read, so that the lesson can be read with clarity, authority and understanding. Our lector team has the high privilege of proclaiming Holy Scripture in the midst of the congregation. It is a high honor!

What is an acolyte?

An acolyte is a child or an adult who helps out with the needs of the church’s worship. So, they may light the candles on the Holy Table, receive the gifts of bread, wine, and money at the offertory, and make sure all candles are extinguished at the dismissal. Being an acolyte is a wonderful way for children to take part in our worship!

USHER TEAM4344878104_e537b0248b_b

Our usher team is the front line, representing one of the first experiences guests will have with us on Sunday morning. Right from the get-go, we want to portray a community of welcome, generosity, and hospitality, all in Jesus’ name. The usher team helps to orient guests to our space, give out our visitor welcome packets, and helps coordinate the offertory and other parts of our weekly worship. Our usher team is a very important part of our church family!

SET UP TEAM12474017583_00467179ff_h

Our dedicated set up team handles all signage, food, and beverages for church events. They are the front line of hospitality, ensuring our church community is ready to welcome in guests and parishioners. The work they do is extremely important.

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Hebrews 13:16)

Service and worship: how often do we think of these two words as intimately related. Truth is, in the New Testament, they are inseparable. At New Creation, we are focused on loving our community – and if we’re going to love our community, we’re going to have to serve our community!

To that end, we’re meeting quarterly to clean up various neighborhoods within our community. See our calendar for our next date. Is it possible to think that something as simple as picking up trash could change someone’s life – even your life? Let’s find out. For more information, please contact Thomas & Melissa Dasch @ ncchagerstown@live.com.

COMMUNITY COOK OUThot-dogs-on-grill-shutterstock

Each year, our church community descends upon Pangborn Park with loads of food, sports and kids activities/crafts, music, and lots of fun! The event is heavily advertised in the community, and is 100% free. Our last cook out attracted an estimated 300 people and even featured a local band (The Twice Born Band). Each year, our theme is the paid-for feast that we have in Christ because of the Gospel.
